필자의 아파트도 작년 겨울, 나무가 거의 몸통만 남은 상태로 가지치기된 경험이 있다. 가림막 역할을 하던 나무가 사라져 당황스러웠고, 봄이 되자 꽃도 적게 피어 속상했다. 관리비 예산을 들여 가지치기를 했겠지만, 몇 년이 지나야 다시 자랄 나무를 이렇게까지 잘라야 했는지 의문이 든다.

한편, 한국 네티즌들은 거의 모든 아파트가 이러한 문제를 겪고 있다고 지적하며, 비정상적인 나무 자르기가 나무의 생명력에 큰 영향을 미친다고 우려하고 있다. 향후에는 자연과 공존할 수 있는 관리 방식을 채택하길 바란다는 의견이 많다.

Experts stress the importance of resident input and prior agreements when it comes to apartment management, calling for improvements to management procedures following this incident.

Experts warn that excessive pruning goes beyond a mere aesthetic issue, as it can significantly harm the trees' vitality. The trees' ability to provide shade and their ecological benefits are also reduced, and if mismanagement continues, it could have long-term environmental and safety consequences.

In my own apartment, last winter, the trees were pruned to the point where only the trunks were left, causing concern. The trees, which used to provide a shield on the balcony, were gone, and in the spring, few flowers bloomed, which was disappointing. While the pruning was likely done with the budget allocated for it, I wonder if it was necessary to cut them so drastically, knowing it will take years for them to regrow.

Meanwhile, many online users in Korea point out that nearly all apartment complexes face similar issues. They express concern about the abnormal pruning, which they believe significantly impacts the trees' vitality. Many hope that in the future, apartment management will adopt approaches that allow for coexistence with nature.

In particular, the fact that leaves are growing from the trunks is seen as an abnormal signal that the tree is struggling to survive. Experts warn that, without proper pruning and care, these trees are at risk of losing their health in the long run.
